The Cheri Pies papers contain materials related to her groundbreaking 1985 book, “Considering Parenthood: A Workbook for Lesbians,” and other lesbian parenting issues. Pies, a clinical professor at the UC Berkeley School of Public Health, has been a leader in women’s health for 30 years and was instrumental in supporting lesbian motherhood in the late 1970s. The collection contains research files for her book, and includes correspondence, book proposals, drafts, notes, questionnaires and newsclippings. Subject files include materials on artificial insemination and legal issues surrounding lesbian parenthood.
