and dates of acquisition are unknown.
Scope and Content of Collection
The Wilmington Area Streets and Neighborhoods Photographic Collection documents physical locations in the city of Wilmington,
California area, including residential, business, and industrial sites, between 1900 and 1998. The bulk of the locations were
photographed between 1980 and 1989. Highlights include historic photographs of Avalon Bl. (formerly Canal St.) and Anaheim
St., as well as aerial photographs from the 1920s and 1950s. This collection is organized into two series: Series I: Identified
Locations (1900-1994), Series II: Unidentified Locations (1952-1998).
Series I: Identified Locations, contains snapshots of individual residential homes and businesses, as well as views of neighborhoods,
intersections, business districts, and industrial areas. This series is arranged alphabetically by street name and numerically
by street number within.
Series II: Unidentified Locations, consists of photographic images of residential homes and businesses, as well as aerial
views of neighborhoods, commercial businesses, industrial areas, city blocks, intersections, and other areas of interest.
This series is arranged first by date, and then randomly by format and size.
