    Scope and Content

Album of photographs documenting travel by an American family in Russia, Germany , France, Hungary Poland, Sweden and Austria in 1910, with 86 photographs of pre-revolution St. Petersburg and Moscow; images are identified by white ink captions.
The first image is of the S.S. Dobeln, on July 30, 1910, which the photographer took from Stockholm to St. Petersburg. There follows a series of views taken on the ship as it traveled through the Finnish Islands to Helsingfors, and then on to Kronstadt. The Dobeln was detained here along with other ships because of the presence of the Czar then aboard the Imperial yacht. There are ten views of Kronstadt and the port of St. Petersburg taken on August 1, 1910. The photographer and his party remained in St. Petersburg from August 1 through the fifth of August. There are 34 views of St. Petersburg and environs including Tsarskoe-Selo. From August sixth through the tenth the party was in Moscow there are 42 views of Moscow and its environs.
There follows 8 views of Warsaw, 22 views of Vienna and the Danube, 7 views of Budapest, 19 views of Salzburg and its surroundings, 14 views of Oberammergau, 6 views of Munich, 7 of Dresden, 17 of Berlin, 4 of Paris and followed by 4 views taken from their ship on the return ocean voyage back to America.
