    Scope and Contents

This collection contains one correspondence from PFC Sidney A. Scholl, USA to his friend Raymond C. Short during the Vietnam War. In his letter, PFC Scholl briefly mentions several topics, such as going to a "Dum-Dum" school where he learned about booby traps and the weapons he'll be using, seeing several firefights at night while on guard duty, being part of an armored unit, and the "house girls" who do laundry of where he's stationed.
The envelope that the letter was enclosed in has a small map of Vietnam printed on the front. On the map, Scholl marked an "X" just northeast of Saigon, which might have been his location at the time of writing the letter.
