Biography / Administrative History

Stanworth Beckler was born in Escondido, CA on December 26, 1923 to William and Marion Beckler and died on March 10, 2010 of lung cancer. Stanworth aka Dan graduated from Escondido Union High School in 1940, enlisted in the Army Air Corps in 1942 and was honorably discharged in 1946. He entered College of the Pacific in 1947 as a music major and graduated with honors in 1950 with a B.M. and B.A. He earned his M.A. in 1951. Stan taught at COP and UOP from 1951-1991 retiring as Professor Emeritus. During that tenure, he was chair of the Theory/Composition Dept. in the Conservatory of Music.
