Background
A Massachusetts native, Charles H. Sherman was long engaged in the carpet and furniture business in San Francisco, a half-brother
to Leander S. Sherman. His residence near South Park was numbered 13 De Boom Street. George F. Bunker was born in Nantucket,
and became a sea captain; after Bunker's death, his property passed to his wife Sarah.
