    Content Description

    This collection contains correspondence from 2nd Lt. Robert M. Gordon, USA and his family during and after the Second World War. Also included are correspondence from Robert's brother PFC Russell D. Gordon, USA and various authors. The correspondence in this collection was written to their parents, William and Faustina Gordon in Medford, Massachusetts.
    Some of the letters were also written by Robert during his postwar military career from various places including Okinawa, Japan; Paris, France; and Eritrea in East Africa. This collection also contains photographs and background information concerning the letters.
    Items of interest include a letter postmarked May 13, 1955 that discusses an atomic bomb test.
