The partnership, Allison and Allison, was composed of two Pennsylvania-based architects, David Clark Allison and James Edward
Allison who were brothers. David Clark Allison was born on May 14, 1881. He earned his bachelor’s degree at the University
of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, and completed coursework at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in France. James Edward Allison was born
on February 22, 1870 and received no formal education but apprenticed under a local builder. Their firm began in 1904 in Pittsburgh,
Pennsylvania, and relocated to Los Angeles, California, in 1910. The practice dissolved in 1942. The firm Allison and Allison
designed many high school and government buildings throughout the state of California. James Edward Allison died in 1955 and
David Clark Allison died in 1962.
The Allison and Allison drawings for the Mr. and Mrs. Carl von Bibra residence located in Holmby Hills, California consists
of one flat file of blueprints and a topographic map of the property site. Drawings include: first and second floor plans;
elevations and sections; schedule of drawings; foundation plans; basement plans; attic and roof plans; and details for the
first and second floor, garage, kitchen, pantry, and linen storage room.
