Photographic prints: selections made by photographer as representative of entire project. An extensive survey of contemporary
California Native American groups with emphasis on festivals and other gatherings which demonstrate the preservation and/or
revival of traditional cultures. Photographs document tribal ceremonies and other activities such as dancing, singing and
preparing food; traditional regalia; baskets and other examples of material culture; ceremonial structures; regional environments;
and other subjects. Includes many individual and group portraits. Includes documentation of the following tribes and locations:
Yurok, Hoopa (Hupa), Pomo, Maidu, Kule Loklo Village, Museum of the American Indian, Yosemite Valley Indian Village, Indian
Grinding Rock State Park (Miwok), Tuolumne Me-Wuk, Ohlone, Chumash, Santa Rosa Band of Cahuilla Indians, Malki Museum and
Morongo Reservation (Morongo Band of Mission Indians), Agua Caliente Band of Cahuilla Indians, Torres Martinez Destert Cahuilla,
