Biography/Administrative History

Dave Bramlet was born in Lynwood, California in 1954. He studied zoology and ecology at California Polytechnic State University, Pomona. He worked as an independent consulting biologist in Southern California from 1977 until his death in 2018. Bramlet was a co-founder of the Orange County chapter of the California Native Plant Society and served as president from 1985 to 1990. He also served on the board of Southern California Botanists.

Scope and Content of Collection

The collection contains the project files from Dave Bramlet’s botanical consulting work in Southern California (primarily Riverside, Orange, and Los Angeles counties) from 1985 to 2017. Most project files include field notes, maps, photos, and draft or final reports. Some project files after 1997 have accompanying CDs or DVDs with additional photographs, background information, contracts, scanned field notes, and other materials. For some later projects, the project files are entirely contained on a CD or DVD with no related paper file. Some CDs and DVDs include a small amount of personal materials. The collection also includes Bramlet’s field notebooks from 1992 through 2016, and color slides and photographs for projects in California, Alaska, and Idaho from 1978 to 2001.
