Conditions Governing Access

These archived files are to be made available to the individual who is appointed the Executive Vice Chair of the Search Committee. This is a staff position (as opposed to a voting member of the committee). This individual, along with a staff director, will be charged with managing the processes for the search in collaboration with the chair and deputy chair.
No other individual should be granted access to the paper files or the electronic files associated with the 2015-2016 Presidential Search that have been placed in the Stanford University Archives. They will remain sealed for 75 years.

Conditions Governing Use

Restricted 75 years from date of creation.
These confidential materials from the 2015-2016 Presidential Search Process are to be made available to the authorized staff for the next search, at whatever time that happens. The purpose of making this available is to help the next staff team benefit from the planning and execution of this search, whether or not a future search committee decides to adopt our processes.
Anyone who has been granted access to this archive accepts the responsibility to keep all knowledge of candidates, comments made by committee members, consultants, or anyone else associated with the 2015-2016 search, or anything other than the specific elements of the process strictly confidential during their lifetime. We recognize that there is a great deal of sensitive information that resides in these files and on the archived external hard-drive. We opted not to destroy it all at this time in case, under some very unfortunate circumstances, a new search might need to be launched within the next few years. In that case, some of this information might prove useful.
Even though the members of a future search committee will be asked to uphold the strictest levels of confidentiality throughout their work on the search, the sensitive information in these archives should not be shared with them.
