Biographical/Historical note

Born in New York May 12th, 1812, came to California September 17th, 1849. He was an architect and builder for the city of San Francisco, and was on the Board of City Hall Commissioners. He passed away in 1896.

King October 1, 1849; 1 handwritten departure letter from his coworkers at Meridian Lodge in New York February 14, 1848; 1 ripped cover from a diary from 1872 with the list of Committee members on the back (committee unknown); 1 booklet of the Articles of Association of the Greenwich and California Mining and Trading Company; a certificate of 100 shares from the Gold and Silver Mining Company to Henry L. King, March 12th, 1877; an Internal Revenue License for Henry L. King to conduct business as an architect in San Francisco, May 1, 1865; 1 letter of minutes from a Board Meeting of City Hall Commisioners, where Henry L. King was nominated as Superintendent of Works, July 17, 1872; and 1 handwritten letter to King, difficult to read.
