Biographical / Historical

The League for Socialist Action/ Ligue Socialiste Ouvrière (LSA/LSO) was a Canadian Trotskyist organization that was formed in 1961 as a result of the merging of the Socialist Education League and the Socialist Information Center. It originally had branches in Toronto and Vancouver, and in 1964 a branch was established in Montreal by the name of Ligue Socialiste Ouvrière. In 1977, the Revolutionary Marxist Group, its Quebec-based counterpart Groupe Marxiste Revolutionnaire, and the LSA/LSO merged to form the Revolutionary Workers League/ Ligue Ouvrière Révolutionnaire.

Custodial History

The League for Socialist Action/ Ligue Socialiste Ouvrière collection was donated to the Holt Labor Library in San Francisco, California between 1992 and 2019, and was acquired by the Gerth Archives and Special Collections at California State University, Dominguez Hills, in 2019.
