Cavagnaro's journal, My Trip West, describes her railroad train trip with her parents from New York City to Chicago, via New
Orleans, El Paso, Los Angeles, Santa Barbara, San Francisco, Asti, Salt Lake City, Pueblo, Denver, and Kansas City. The three
weeks of San Francisco entries (November 24 – December 13) describe parties and dinners, and the guests; horseback rides;
euchre games; attractions and businesses in San Francisco and the Bay Area. The Cavagnaros were also hosted by Romolo Sbarboro
during a side trip to Asti and the Italian-Swiss Colony Winery. Many of Victoria's acquaintances had Italian surnames. Her
last journal entry is Dec. 19, but this is followed by lists of Letters Received, Letters Written, and Postals Sent Out, which
are dated as late as Dec. 23.
