Content Description
This collection contains one letter dated April 10, 2007 from Master Sergeant Christine Edwards, United States Air Force Reserve
to her then seven-year-old daughter Erica Bargas during the Afghanistan War. Edwards writes about the heat and asks about
life at home. She encourages her daughter to decode her "secret message" and to respond in code.
Also included are homemade cards from Erica and fourteen of her elementary school classmates that were sent to Edwards during
her first deployment to Afghanistan in 2007. The children thank Edwards for her service and commend her for bravery. One child
writes, "Ericas mom is at the woer" [sic]; another notes, "Erica is a good friend." Erica writes, "I Love You Mom You are
the Best Mom evre" [sic]. Most of the cards are illustrated with American flags.
