Scope and Contents

Collection consists of copies of Technical Hints in the Use of the Pencil by Ernest W. Watson, for the Pencil Department of the Joseph Dixon Crucible Company in Jersey City, New Jersey. Each page is a fully illustrated drawing lesson, primarily on architectural features such as stone walls, columns and arches, tiled and other roofs, and doors. Lesson pages also served as magazine advertisements for pencils, appearing between 1913 and 1925.
