    Content Description

    This collection contains personal materials from Shiyo Doiwchi's time serving in the C Battery of the 522 Field Artillery in the 442nd Regimental Combat Team during World War II. The majority of the collection consists of military ribbons and medals. There are also post-war material.

    Biographical / Historical

    Shiyo Doiwchi was born in 1916 in Los Angeles. He volunteered for the Army and served with the C Battery of the 522 Field Artillery of the 442nd Regimental Combat as a gunner. He served in Italy, France, and Germany. After World War II ended he returned to Los Angeles and later participated in the Go For Broke Hanashi Oral Histories. Shiyo passed away in 2005.
