    Content Description

    Large format photographs depicting locomotives of various manufacturers located in the eastern United States. Some views also include buildings of the manufacturers. Manufacturers include Baldwin Locomotive Works (M. Baird & Co., Philadelphia), Danforth Locomotive and Machine Company (Paterson, N.J.), Gilbert Car Manufacturing Co. (Troy, N.Y.), Leighton Bridge and Iron Works (Rochester, N.Y.), and Rogers Locomotive and Machine Works (Paterson, N.J.). The locomotives depicted were built for various railway companies in the U.S. and South America, including Chicago & North Western; Cleveland & Pittsburgh; Thomas Iron Company; Lehigh Valley; Union Pacific; Naugatuck; Southern Railway (Chile); Missouri Pacific; Morris & Essex; Georgia; New Haven, New London & Stonington; Lima & Huacho (Peru); Skaneateles; Yquique & La Noria (Peru); and Boston & Albany.
