Description
This collection contains the papers of American screenwriter and author Frances Marion (1888-1973). Materials include books, scrapbooks, treatments and short stories, photographs, stills, clippings, and programs, newspaper and magazine articles, and plaques and awards.
Background
Frances Marion (1888-1973) was an American screenwriter, director, journalist, and author. She is credited with writing over 100 films. Marion was the first writer to win two Academy Awards, one for writing for "The Big House" (1931) and another for best story for "The Champ" (1932). Marion published a memoir "Off With Their Heads: A Serio-Comic Tale of Hollywood" in 1972.
