    Biography

There is little biographical information available about B.D. Shamberg. The following information was determined by information found in the collection. B.D. "Sonny" Shamberg was the Music Director of the Ideal Productions Studio in New York City in 1941. For the next ten years, he was a writer and full member of the Screen Writers Guild. Shamberg appeared to start his career as artist agent/manager in 1951 when he joined the Lester Saklow Agency. Over the next five years he worked for companies as the William Shiffran Agency and the Gus Dembling Agency. In 1956 Shamberg was appointed head of the Talent Department for the Frank Cooper Associates Agency, a position he retained for four years before starting his own artist management agency, the B.D. Shamberg Agency in 1962. One of his clients appears to have been Burt Reynolds. One year later, Shamberg partnered with Ray Sackheim and two other artist agents to form the Coast Artists Agency. In late-1963 or early 1964, Sackheim and Shamberg left Coast Artists and started the Management of Artists Agency; one year later, Shamberg took full control of the agency. Shamberg died on January 28, 1966 due to heart failure.
