    General

Excerpts from Ousdal's handwritten inscription: "Copy No. 6. To the University of Southern California. Six copies were made of Vinland Saga, illustrated, but not found, in the form of this copy. They were given to:[...]. Vinland Saga was played at Lobero Theatre October 8 and 9 -- 1937 with [illegible] on stage for Seventeen scenes. The pageant form of the play was given in the Court House Garden of Santa Barbara every year thereafter to commemorate the Discovery of America by Leif Erikson.[...] American History legendary or otherwise begins with Leif Erikson and should be given its rightful place in American Folklore. Sincerely, Asbjorn P. Ousdal. October 9, 1942."
