Baldo Loy worked for the Pacific
Steamship Association as a Stevedore in 1923 and for the Moore Drydock Company in 1924.
By 1935, he was a member of the Industrial Union of Marine and Shipbuilding Workers of
America, Local 9. He was "granted Honorable, withdrawel [sic] from this Local"
on 26 January 1936. That same year, at the age of 36, he was issued a picket card by the
Maritime Federation of the Pacific coast, serving the organization faithfully during the
Maritime Federation Pacific Coast strike. The collection consists of picket cards and
other forms of identification relating to Baldo Loy's union
