Scope and Contents

This series contains correspondence written by SSgt. Robert S. Easterbrook, USA, to his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Niemand, during the Second World War. One of the letters was written on and about the day of Japan's surrender, August 15, 1945. Another letter of interest is about Hideki Tojo, ex-premier of Japan, and how Easterbrook was helping in Tojo's recovery from his his suicide attempt at the 98th Evacuation Hospital.
