    Biographical Note

    Frank George Ascherl served as a United States Prisoner of War Escort in 1919 guarding German prisoners held in French and Belgian prisons such as Is-sur-Tille, Malancourt, Sampigny, Pagny-sur-Meuse, and Romagne sous Montfaucon.

    Scope and Content of Collection

    The Frank George Ascherl papers (1917-1919) consists of a WWI-era photograph album; includes photographs of German prisoners on kitchen duty, in billets, and playing baseball.
