Abstract: The Eppleton Hall (built 1914; paddle tugboat) restoration photographs, 1968-1969, (SAFR 24840, P79-108a) are comprised of
photographs of EPPLETON HALL (built 1914; paddle tugboat) during her initial restoration in Newcastle upon Tyne, England.
The collection has been processed to the Collection level and is open for use.

Processing Note
The original accession form dated May 29, 1979 lists the following 23 items:
- 1 photograph album
- 9 black-and-white photographic prints, 8 x 10 in.
- 13 black-and-white negatives, 35mm
However, at the time of processing in September 2016, the photograph album could not be found. The photograph album had been
assigned number scr58. The description for scr58 in the Classified Photograph Collection database is as follows: Compiled
and donated by Karl Kortum.1 volume. EPPLETON HALL (built 1916; paddle steam tug: museum vessel) restoration activities in
1968-1969; also variety of working tugboats pp. 165-211. For access to individual photographs see subject of photograph.

SAFR-00001 is a blanket accession that was transferred from the Golden Gate National Recreation Area (GGNRA) to the San Francisco
Maritime National Historical Park in September 1988. GGNRA had previously acquired the collection from the San Francisco Maritime
Museum when it became a unit of the National Park Service in 1977.
GOGA-00789 was transferred from the J. Porter Shaw Library to the Golden Gate National Recreation Area (GGNRA) in February
1985.
Historical or Biographical Note
EPPLETON HALL (built 1914; paddle tugboat) was a side-wheel steamer built by Hepple and Company of South Shields, England,
for the Lambton and Hetton Collieries, Ltd. She was designed to tow ocean-going colliers to and from the port of Newcastle
on the River Tyne. EPPLETON HALL was donated to the National Park Service in 1979, and she is now exhibited at Hyde Street
Pier as part of the San Francisco Maritime National Historical Park, San Francisco, California.

The Eppleton Hall (built 1914; paddle tugboat) restoration photographs, 1968-1969, (SAFR 24840, P79-108a) are comprised of
photographs of EPPLETON HALL (built 1914; paddle tugboat) during her initial restoration in Newcastle upon Tyne, England.
The collection has been processed to the Collection level and is open for use.
Contains photographs of EPPLETON HALL (built 1914; paddle tugboat) in Newcastle upon Tyne, England, during her restoration
prior to her sail to San Francisco, California, 1968-1969. There are 20 unique photographic images in 24 physical forms (13
black-and-white negatives, 35mm; 10 black-and-white photographic prints; and 1 color photographic print). Includes photographs
of the wheelhouse before installation and photographs taken from on board the vessel while under tow on the River Tyne. Some
of the photographs might have been taken by Franci Neale or Bill Bartz, crewmembers aboard EPPLETON HALL during the sail between
Newcastle and San Francisco.
