Scope and Content of Collection

This collection contains the yearly records of the Gay and Lesbian Tennis Federation of the San Francisco Bay Area (formerly the Gay Tennis Federation), from 1980, the year it was founded, to 2000. The original arrangement was maintained. The records are organized by year and are the equivalent of scrapbooks documenting each year. Newsletters predominate in the later years. The collection includes correspondence, organizational records, meeting minutes, calendars of events, newsletters, news clippings, photographs and a timeline of the U.S. Gay Open (USGO) that runs from 1981-2004. Carton 1 contains the years 1980 to 1990; Carton 2 contains the years 1991 to 2000 and a memorial pamphlet for William Lee McCoy (1961-2004), a tennis player who was also the newsletter’s gossip columnist. The timeline and 25th Anniversary bumper stickers are in the Oversize Folder.
