Historical Note:
The Community Organization and Environmental Control project was headed by Dr. Richard D. Jones of the Anthropology Department
at San Diego State University in 1971-1973. The project was funded by the National Science Research Foundation, and was an
analysis of over 40 communities in the San Diego metropolitan area. Students gathered statistical data from a variety of
local governmental and private agencies, and direct observations of community life from field visits.
