This collection consists of materials detailing the projects, meetings, and dealings of the
Oakland City Council; Mary Moore's campaign materials; ephemera from other California and
Oakland political campaigns; Montclair- Greater Oakland Democratic Club materials and
politcal ephemera; Mary Moore's correspondence (mostly City Council related); and
clippings.
Background
Mary Moore (b.1933 - d.2013) was a politician and activist who served as a member of the
Oakland City Council for District 2 from 1977-1994. She was the third woman to be elected to
the City Council and was considered part of the progressive movement on the Council during
her 17 year tenure.
