Abstract: Clinton L. Litt worked as a mechanic and painter at Sacramento Air Depot, McClellan Field (later McClellan Air Force Base)
from 1942 to 1953. This scrapbook documents his employment at the depot, and contains employment paperwork, news clippings,
ephemera, photographs and correspondence.

Clinton L. Litt was born on September 4, 1890, in the small town of Claus in Stanislaus County, California. Clinton worked
as a rancher for many years, and in the 1920s, operated a 900-acre ranch three miles east of Trigo that he owned with his
brother, Alvin. Both brothers lived on the ranch with their families, including Clinton's wife, Maude, and his daughter, Lorene.
By 1940, Litt had divorced and moved in with his mother in Modesto. In 1942, he moved to Sacramento to work at the Sacramento
Air Depot, McClellan Field (later McClellan Air Force Base), as a General Mechanic's Helper. Litt joined a civilian workforce
of nearly 20,000 engaged in war work at the installation, working his way up to Senior Aircraft Engine Mechanic and finishing
up his career as a Painter and Doper. He resigned from McClellan Air Force Base in 1953 and passed away in Sacramento in June
1969.
The scrapbook contains employment paperwork, news clippings, ephemera, photographs and correspondence documenting Clinton
L. Litt's work at Sacramento Air Depot, 1942-1954. Completed work forms include ungraded employee efficiency rating forms,
employee guidance forms, personnel actions forms and pay slips. Also included are handwritten notes, letters from command
regarding suggestions, portraits of Irma Draper and Roy Rollins, a Sacramento Air Depot patch and a portrait of women war
workers at McClellan Field.
