Both organizations served as the national youth group for the Spartacist League of the U.S., a Trotskyist political organization, from 1971-1986.

The Revolutionary Communist Youth and Spartacus Youth League Bulletins were donated to the Holt Labor Library in San Francisco, California between 2001 and 2019, and were acquired by the Gerth Archives and Special Collections at California State University, Dominguez Hills, in 2019.

Biographical / Historical

Revolutionary Communist Youth (RCY) began as the Revolutionary Marxist Caucus within Students for a Democratic Society (SDS) in 1969. It later changed its name to Revolutionary Communist Youth when it became the national youth group of the Spartacist League, a Trotskyist organization, from 1971-1974. From 1974- when it . The group later changed its name to Spartacus Youth League from 1974-1986.
