    Abstract: The papers of David Lyndon Woods, a San Jose State College alumnus, consist of documents and memorabilia from his student days, as well as some of his professional publications. Subject matter includes signaling on land and sea, library technology circa 1990, and student life on San Jose State College campus.

    Arrangement

    This collection is divided into two series, San Jose State College Student Papers; and Personal Publications. The series are arranged chronologically.

    Biographical / Historical

    David Lyndon Woods is an alumnus of SJSC, graduating in 1953 with a BA in Speech and Drama. While at San Jose State College he was very active in campus social life, being a member of Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity, Interfraternity Council, Spartan Shields, Blue Key National Honor fraternity, Forensics debate club, San Jose Players speech and drama organization, and Lyke campus feature magazine. He went on to get an MA in Mass Media from Stanford University, an MBA in Management from Rollins College, and a PhD in Communication from Ohio State University. In 1987 he founded DaleWood Enterprises, Inc. a magazine and newsletter publishing and advertising firm. He also worked as Director of Scientific Information for the Department of the Navy based at the Office of Naval Technology. He specializes in signal communication.

    Content Description

    The David Lyndon Woods Papers consist of San Jose State College directories from the 1950s, a two-volume set of Woods' book, "Signaling and Communicating at Sea," copies of two of his other publications, and a souvenir from the 1951 Spartan Revelries.
