Abstract: The collection documents the activities of the Music Teachers’ Association of California, Sacramento County Branch, from 1912
to 2013, with the bulk of material dating from 1920 to 2010. Material includes administrative records; program, event, convention,
and recital records; photographs; and scrapbooks. The organization, founded in 1912, advocates for quality music education,
advances the music teacher profession, and holds student recitals and teacher education programs.

Biography / Administrative History
The Music Teachers’ Association of California, Sacramento County Branch, was founded in 1912. The organization is part of
the larger Music Teachers’ Association of California, which was founded in 1897 in San Francisco. The organization advocates
for quality music education, advances the music teacher profession, and holds student recitals and teacher education programs.
