The Sacramento County Animal Control Office records documenting the monthly activities of the office between 1972 and 1979.
Sacramento County was chartered by the California State Legislature on Feb. 18, 1850 as one of ten chartered counties. Its
role was to carry out three major state programs: public assistance, public protection, and road construction and maintenance.
The Charter of 1933 gave the county "home-rule" status, granting it a greater role in planning, municipal service, and coordinating
functions of urbanized areas.
