    Scope and Contents note

    This collection consists of architectural drawings and renderings for residences and commercial properties designed by Marshall Wilkinson and his son, Marshall Wilkinson, Jr.. The collection also contains some office files and photographs of one of the projects, photographed by Hutton Wilkinson, grandson of Marshall Wilkinson, Sr. In absence of original order, the drawings were alphabetized by project name or client name.

    Biographical/Historical note

    Marshall Phillips Wilkinson, Sr. (1892-1969) was a draftsman in Hollywood as early as 1915. Wilkinson was superintendent of construction for the Frank P. Meline Company in Beverly Hills in 1917, and founded his own architectural firm in 1918 or 1920 in Los Angeles. He designed many residences and commercial buildings in the Los Angeles area, some of the residences were designed for Hollywood entertainment industry stars. The Marshall Wilkinson Architectural Firm was joined by Marshall Wilkinson, Jr. who ran the firm after his father retired. Marshall Wilkinson, Jr. attended the University of Southern California and died in 1989.
