    Scope and Content of Collection

    This collection contains photographs, event ephemera, and press materials relating to ESP, a San Francisco-based art space founded by Matthew Pawlowski, featuring queer and queer-friendly artists. Located at 305 Valencia Street at 14th Street in San Francisco’s Mission District, ESP was active from 1996-2000. Exhibit curators and artists included Darin Klein, Jim Winters, Arnold Kemp, Paul Craven, Steven Brown, Marc Swanson, Sandra Wong, Bruno Fazzolari, Phillipe Jestin, Aaron Plant, and Rodney O’Neal Austin, all of whom are candidly captured in this collection’s photographs. Also included in the photos are Julie Deamer, Co-Director and owner of San Francisco gallery Four Walls, and Ana Mantronic (Ana Lynch), lead singer of the Scissor Sisters and frequent Trannyshack performer. In addition to photographs, this collection contains numerous postcards publicizing upcoming exhibitions and events, as well as numerous press materials focusing on ESP and its activities.
