Description
Andrew Finlay Walls (b.1928) is a British historian of missions, particularly related to the history of the African church and World Christianity. The collection contains audio recordings of lectures by Andrew F. Walls, recorded live at Overseas Ministries Study Center, New Haven, Connecticut (October 23-27, 2000). The title of the conference was, “Christian Missions: Agents of Social Transformation.”
Background
Andrew Finlay Walls (b.1928) is a British historian of missions, particularly related to the history of the African church and World Christianity. He studied theology at Exeter College, Oxford, and received a first-class degree in 1948. Walls finished his graduate studies in 1956 with patristics scholar Frank Leslie Cross. He taught at Fourah Bay College Sierra Leone (1957-62); University of Nigeria, Nsukka (1962-65); University of Aberdeen (1966-86); University of Edinburgh (1986-). He established the Journal of Religion in Africa in 1967 and Studies in World Christianity in 1995.
