Consists of two volumes. A chronicle of rumors and false information which were spread among the Japanese American community as well as the government propagandas which misled the society during the war. Vol. 1: May 17, 1944-May 31, 1945; vol. 2: June 1, 1945-November 30, 1945.

Japanese translations of English announcements from Tokyo, Japan 1944 February 16

Scope and Contents

Japanese translations of two English announcements which were sent out from Tokyo, Japan. The announcements were presumably made by Captain Hide Hiraide, the Imperial Japanese Navy, and address citizens in the U.S. sometime in January 1944. One of the incarcerees in the Tule Lake Segregation Center obtained them, and they were translated into Japanese. Itsuhei Takano copied them all out by hand.

Chronicles from the time when he was released from the incarceration camp though the postwar period. It details his trip from the Gila River camp, Arizona to Los Angeles, California, narrates what he observed and thought when he learned of the surrender of Imperial Japan, and documents the postwar lives of the Japanese American incarcerees in Los Angeles when WRA camps were closed.
