Biographical / Historical
John Henry Merryman was a professor at the Stanford Law School from 1953 until his death in
2015. Merryman was an expert on art law, cultural property law, and comparative law.
Merryman a B.S. in chemistry in 1943 from the University of Portland; an M.S. from the
University of Notre Dame in 1944; and a J.D. from the University of Notre Dame in 1947.
Scope and Contents
Collection includes publication files, subject files, conference files, correspondence, and
materials from Stanford courses taught by Merryman.
