Description
This collection contains 56 correspondence written by Sgt. Herman N. Krum, AEF, to his sister Hannah Fay Scott née Krum during the First World War. This collection also contains two of Hannah's notebooks, as well as postcards, and other ephemeral material.
Background
Sergeant Herman Nelson Krum, American Expeditionary Forces (1896-1961) was born in Liberty, New York to Clark Herman Krum and Carrie Frances Krum. His siblings included Hannah Fay Scott née Krum, and Earl T. Krum. Sgt. Krum served with Company L, 10th Infantry in France during the First World War. He married Elsie Doscher Ropke October 1, 1921 in Sullivan, New York. Together they had two children, Nelson C. Krum, and Richard C. Krum.
