Scope and Contents
Collection includes research notes and files on Women's history, feminism, the history of
Women's Studies, and European socialist feminism in the nineteenth and early twentieth
centuries. Also included are correspondence files, curriculum files, and some of Boxer's
drafts.
Biographical / Historical
Marilyn J. Boxer is Professor of History Emerita at San Francisco State University. Boxer
earned an AB in History from University of Redlands in 1965, and an MA (1966) and Ph.D.
(1975) in History from University of California, Riverside. Prior to joining faculty at
SFSU, Boxer lectured at Stanford from 2001-2002. She was also an affiliated scholar at the
Michelle R. Clayman Institute for Gender Research at Stanford University from 1998-2002.
Boxer's research interests include Women's history, and the history of Women's Studies as a
discipline.
