Description
Peter Fiske is a San Francisco leatherman. The collection documents Fiske's activities in the San Francisco Bay Area and national leather and fetish scenes. The bulk of the collection consists of materials related to The 15 Association, a gay men's S/M organization in San Francisco founded in 1980, of which Fiske was a longtime member. These include brochures, calendars, correspondence, flyers for events (many illustrated by Les) and other promotional materials, membership materials, newsletters, photographs, videotapes, club patches and Fiske’s leather vest decorated with The 15 Association’s annual commemorative pins. The collection also includes some of Fiske’s personal papers, including his writings; materials regarding the Chicago Hellfire Club, NLA Spanner Defense and Education Fund and Spanner Mart; leather-related ephemera and a “Tartarus Newsletter. There are also drawings by Mark Hadden (Orsen) and Leon and paintings by Mike Cassidy. Notable is a rare photo album from Doyels and the Gilded Cage (1967-1969). There are also 3 whips: a studded-handle leather cat-o-nine tail whip created by Bill Bliss in 1960; a David Morgan dog quirt, 1975; and a 5 tail cat/quirt whip, 1988.
