Scope and Content of Collection

The Collected Works of Milton Friedman Project records include photocopies of speeches, writings, and correspondence of the American economist Milton Friedman, and recordings of his television appearances. The records were used as research material for The Collected Works of Milton Friedman, compiled and edited by Robert Leeson and Charles G. Palm.
The purpose of this project was the publication of all Friedman's writings. It was originally sponsored by Palgrave Macmillan Limited, who planned to publish the materials as a multivolume set. After Palgrave withdrew, the project was sponsored by the Hoover Institution on War, Revolution and Peace. Much of the material has now been published online as part of the Collected Works of Milton Friedman website, http://miltonfriedman.hoover.org .
In addition to photocopies of Friedman's writings and correspondence, the collection includes files related to the project, such as database guides, correspondence concerning copyright permissions, and various electronic files. The records also include materials that were ultimately excluded from The Collected Works of Milton Friedman.
