Background
Marty Walker (1953-) is a Los Angeles-based performer of new music and improvisation. His
projects often include collaboration with composers to inspire new works for the clarinet,
bass clarinet, and other instruments. During his career, Walker has premiered over 80 new
compositions written primarily for the bass clarinet. He is a member of the California
E.A.R. Unit, a contemporary chamber ensemble, and founder of the improvisation duo, Ghost
Duo, along with composer and guitarist Michael Jon Fink. Walker studied music at the
California Institute of the Arts, the University of Redlands, the Vienna Academy of Music,
and Michigan State University.
