Scope and Contents

Collection contains an unpublished manuscript of lectures delivered by the Strasbourg medical professor Johann Philipp Grauel (1711-1761), collected and written out by his student and colleague Johann Peter Eberhard (1727-1779). The manuscript is a detailed discussion of the writings of Boerhaave, Haller, and Bohn on neurology, ophthalmology, pharmacology, physiology, hygiene, surgery, etc. There are numerous diagrams in the margins. It was finished 12 October 1760.
"Grauel published very little during his lifetime but was a noted professor and a major collector (see his posthumously published Museum Grauelianum, 1772). Eberhard studied medicine with Hoffmann in halle and became professor of medicine, physics and mathematics at the University of Halle. He published a commentary of the physiological ideas of Haller and Boerhaave along with other medical works."--Antiquarian bookseller's description.
