    Abstract: The collection consists mainly of catchpenny prints and engravings related to famous travel and imaginary voyage novels popular in the 19th century, including Robinson Crusoe, Gulliver's Travels, and Baron Munchausen's Narrative of his Marvellous Travels. The prints mostly have Dutch captions, with some prints having additional captions in German, French, and English.

    Collection Scope and Contents

    The collection consists mainly of catchpenny prints and engravings related to famous travel and imaginary voyage novels popular in the 19th century, including Robinson Crusoe, Gulliver's Travels, and Baron Munchausen's Narrative of his Marvellous Travels.
    Most of the prints are known as "catchpenny prints," and consist of a large sheet, printed on one side with a series of small color engravings with accompanying rhyming captions. The prints mostly have Dutch captions, with some prints having additional captions in German, French, and English.
    The collection also includes some German engraved illustrations, as well as engraved maps of the Juan Fernández Islands, which include Robinson Crusoe island.
