Stanford, Calif.
Biographical / Historical
Founded in 1973, the Stanford Savoyards, a student-run community theatre company dedicated to Gilbert & Sullivan, produce
two fully-staged and orchestrated operettas in Dinkelspiel Auditorium on the Stanford University campus per season. The Savoyards
are known for putting clever spins on the traditional G&S opus, often paying homage to pop culture phenomena such as Bollywood,
Firefly and Star Trek: The Next Generation.
The "Savs" are affiliated with the Associated Students of Stanford University. Our membership includes students, faculty,
staff and alumni of Stanford; as well as the surrounding community. We encourage everyone to try out for our shows or to contribute
their artistic, technical, or organizational talents to our theatrical exploits. The Stanford Savoyards have fostered numerous
professional actors, singers, and theatre professionals now working throughout the Bay Area and beyond.
