Abstract: Photographs, clothing, affirmation writings, and a memorial program for Damian Markus, who died in 2000. The collection includes photographs of lesbian women and their families and friends. The collection also includes a program from the Peggy Albrecht Friendly House, a Los Angeles organization for women recovering from addiction.

Biographical / Historical

Damian Markus was born in 1938 in New York. In 1980 she left New York for rehabilitation at Los Angeles' Friendly House, where she would eventually come to work alongside its director Peggy Albrecht. Markus passed away in October 2000 in Los Angeles.

Among the people in the photographs are Markus, actress Stephanie Faracy, Peggy Albrecht, and jewelry designer Pepi Kelman. The collection also includes a program from the Peggy Albrecht Friendly House, a Los Angeles organization for women recovering from addiction.
