Transfer from the San Francisco Maritime National Historical Park Library (call number fff VM311 B4 E4) in 2015. The album
was created by Karl Kortum and Harlan Soeten circa 1971.
Historical or Biographical Note
ELISSA is an iron-hulled three -masted bark. She was built in 1877 by Alexander Hall & Company in Aberdeen, Scotland. She
is currently owned by the Galveston Historical Foundation in Galveston, Texas.
The Elissa (built 1877; bark, 3m) photograph album, circa 1971, (SAFR 24657, P15-030) is comprised of an album containing
images and text about the bark ELISSA. The collection has been processed to the Collection level and is open for use.
Consists of 1 photograph album, 16 x 22 in., containing five pages of a brief history of ELISSA (built 1877; bark, 3m) and
her builder Alexander Hall & Company, compiled by Karl Kortum and Harlan Soeten circa 1971. The text gives a brief update
of her current condition as of 1971 and mentions the possibility of using ELISSA as a youth training vessel after restoration.
