Description
First Aid/Anatomy handbook (SAFR 287, HDC 495) is a typewritten copy of the handbook, which is the successor to "The Ship's
Medicine Chest" of the U.S. Public Health Service. The handbook was part of a course offered to officers and crew of American
Merchant Vessels with no physician or medical personnel on board. The purpose was to train them to become "Hospital Corpsmen"
comparable to Pharmacist's Mates in the U.S. Navy. The collection has been processed and is open for use without restriction.
