Description
The collection includes records documenting the Orange County
Division of the League of California Cities' activities during the 1960s and
1970s, a period of explosive growth in Orange County, California. These activities
included advocacy on issues of importance to the member cities. Of particular note
are materials related to the dissolution of the Orange County Harbor
District.
Background
Through legislative advocacy, policy development, training and education, and a forum
for the discussion of both state and regional issues, the Orange County Division of
the League of California Cities, strives to achieve the following goals: • “To
educate and stimulate, encourage and coordinate the communications of ideas and
information among city officials; • To develop broad support on issues and advocate
those views to other governmental agencies and the public and; • To improve the
quality of life in cities by assisting city officials to make services more
efficient and more responsive to the citizens of our cities.”
